The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has set up a website www.cars.gov for consumers to get information on the new CARS (Car Allowance Rebate System) law. It explains how the program works, has FAQ's and a link to the government fuel economy site. There are many criteria that must be met for a person to be eligible for the $3,500- $4,500 credit. Some of them include: The CARS program may be used in addition to any dealer/manufacturer rebates or discounts. Consumers will not receive paper vouchers. Dealers will credit the designated amount to the purchase and then apply for reimbursement from the NHTSA. |
